Tens of Millions Spinning in Graves

Anita Dunn contends:

“”The use of the phrase ‘favorite political philosophers’ was intended as irony, but clearly the effort fell flat — at least with a certain Fox commentator whose sense of irony may be missing.”

I don’t detect any irony in the video. She is lying. Lying about her appreciation… of Mao. Mao!?!?!?!?

The mainstream media response to this? Nonexistent. I found out about it from a friend’s blog (ht: Patrick Stephens).

I don’t know that much about Beck and I find his histrionics off-putting. But he’s asking questions and talking about issues that nobody else is touching, and his overall perspective— profound skepticism regarding government power— is the proper one for any serious journalistic endeavor.

Recently, the White House has sought to marginalize Fox News Channel, not a little ironic in light of its policy of “engagement” with tyrannical regimes. The Obama Administration should fire Anita Dunn and mainstream media outlets should refuse to bend to the despicable pressure the Obama Administration is placing on them to function as megaphones and mouthpieces of its policies.

I’ve sometimes thought it was too bad that Fox is seen as a fringe news network (and often for good reason) exactly for the reason you touched on here. Sometimes they do take on issues that no one else is digging into. Nothing made me happier one day than to see Shep Smith lambaste Barney Frank and friends after they tarred and feathered the bank CEOs, as if the politicians’ hands were clean with the whole subprime mortgage thing. Unfortunately, too often it only goes one way, and some of the stuff reported on the network isn’t altogether accurate, which is why so many people refuse to take them seriously. But you can count on their having a field day with Obama and his administration as long as he remains in office.
